About Elmbrook Preschool

Our Philosophy

At Elmbrook Preschool, we believe that every child is unique, with their own temperament, potential, and way of learning. As a trusted private preschool in Milwaukee, we strive to create an environment where children feel happy, confident, and ready to embrace new learning experiences.

Our goal is to help children develop a healthy self-concept. When children feel good about themselves, communicate effectively, and build confidence, they become more open to exploring the world around them.

Through our engaging preschool programs, we foster essential skills such as:

  • Building Confidence and Self-Worth: Helping children develop a healthy self-concept so they feel secure, valued, and ready to explore.
  • Understanding Safety and Well-Being: Teaching children important safety awareness and healthy habits for a strong foundation.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Inspiring self-expression through art, music, movement, and imaginative play.
  • Developing Academic Readiness: Preparing young learners with essential skills in reading, math, and problem-solving to set them up for success.

Our philosophy extends beyond the classroom. We understand that parents are a child’s first and most influential teachers. That’s why we focus on building strong relationships with families to better understand and support each child’s behavior, social needs, and overall development.

By providing a variety of enriching experiences, we aim to complement and enhance life at home. Together, we can give your child the tools they need to thrive – both in preschool and beyond.

Our Programs

Nutrition

Nutrition

Nutrition

We believe that early attitudes toward food are essential for lifelong health. That’s why we provide a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, and milk products as snacks.

Our hands-on approach also gives pre-school children opportunities to prepare and cook their own food, building independence and healthy habits.

Music

Nutrition

Nutrition

Music supports language development, emotional growth, and social interaction. Through our weekly music class, children engage in singing, listening, and playing instruments.

These fun and interactive sessions encourage self-expression and foster an appreciation for music. At Elmbrook Preschool, we strive to make music an integral part of each child’s journey!

Meet Our Teachers

Hi! I am a 3K teacher in the Sunshine Room and I have taught preschool for 12 years. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.

What I love most about teaching is the connections I make with the students and families. Preschoolers have the greatest love for school, and watching them learn and grow is so rewarding. Not only am I able to teach them new things every day, but I am constantly growing as a teacher alongside them. They bring silliness, curiosity, and so much fun to the classroom.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family. Family and faith have always been the center of my life. I have been married to my husband for 11 years and have two beautiful daughters. I also enjoy going thrifting, gardening, and reading a good book.

One of my favorite quotes is by Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

I’m Tenicka Washington, a proud University of Dayton alum with a bachelor’s in Arts (2009) and a master’s in Education. With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’m passionate about helping young minds grow, learn, and explore.

Originally from Ohio, I moved to Wisconsin with my husband, an engineering project manager. We’re blessed with three amazing children: James (13), Jessalynn (9), and Jordyn (7). They keep us busy with dance, gymnastics, football, and music.

I’ve been fortunate to travel to more than 30 countries, including

France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Lithuania, China, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, Brazil, India, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Mauritius, and many other countries, enriching my perspective both personally and professionally.

Outside the classroom, I love history, reading, and serving in the body of believers.

Kelly Greenberg

Hi! I’m Kelly Greenberg, the 4K teacher at Elmbrook Preschool. My history here spans over 20 years as a teacher, plus time as a parent when my two children attended. I was drawn in by the warmth of our staff and the way we guide children through their first school experiences.

Born in Vermont and raised in Wisconsin, I studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Los Angeles before returning to Madison, where I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Roll Badge!).

I love teaching 4–5-year-olds and building close connections that help them grow in confidence, curiosity, and community. Every day is filled with joy, discovery, and laughter! My goal is for every child to love school, trust in their abilities, and feel part of a caring, safe classroom community.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy nature walks with my two rescue dogs, gardening, fairy gardens, live music, art, and time with my family.

It was the perfect mix of play and learning, as well as exploring nature. Both of our kids blossomed here and were prepared when they went to elementary school. We can’t recommend them enough!
